In response to “DISCUSSION OF PLACE”,
I made a 3D interaction scene in a Japanese Solo Dining Restaurant, to explore the environment’s impact on our dining experience, using Spline to model, texture, set up lighting mood and create this interactive scrolling experience.
By exploring further my Studio 1’s Theme of Human Food Interaction, I investigate further emotional and cultural aspects of eating alone and with other people. I came across this Solo-dining concept from a Japanese ramen restaurant, which celebrates the idea of “Zero interaction” and no distraction when eating but adapts and changes its setup in certain locations where the majority of people prefer to eat with others instead of by themselves.

This information inspires me to make this interaction piece, showing how the environment
becomes a major influential character, especially in a dining setting. The scene initially puts you in a solo dining space with a blind and separators under dim and blueish light.

The scroll results in a change in your environment, with walls being removed, lights
getting brighter, and placing your food on a big table with others. How do you feel now?
