In response to CPS's Theme of Observation, I made a 3D interactive “Banh Mi” based on the observation of the common pronunciation of “Bun Mee”, showing how communication can change a cultural aspect of the object, using Spline to model and animate the interchangeable interaction of the dish.
By observing and listening to how people who don’t speak the Vietnamese native language say “Bun mee”, I came up with the idea to represent this authentic dish in a new and funny way, similar to how it sounds. Based on how you pronounce the word, you will get either a Banh Mi filling with a Bun from a burger, or with a common traditional baguette. The idea results in an interactive piece that allows you to see a different dish based on how you say the word, also exploring the theme of cultural communication and the use of language.
